The Ancient City of Jiaohe sits on an island made of mud (adobe), as were its buildings and is surrounded by two rivers. It was built in 60 BC and was a station on the Silk Road. It is the largest and best preserved ancient city built from compressed earth anywhere in the world. Yarnaz Valley, Turpan, Xinjiang Province, China.
