Bezelik Thousand Buddha Caves, Flaming Mountains (foothills of Tian Shan mountain range), near Turpan, Xinjiang. The caves were built between 5th and 9th century. Buddhist sculpture and wall frescoes were destroyed after Islam came to the region in the 13th century.
