The Karakoram Highway near Tashkurgan (means Stone Fortress in Uyghur), at 10,100 feet, It was a caravan stop on the Silk Road and all routes of the Silk Road converged here to journey southward to Pakistan. It sits on the borders of both Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and is close to the border of Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan. The majority population in the town are ethnic Mountain Tajiks. Xinjiang Province, China.
